Who We Are

About Mamadi Advice Centre

Mamadi Advice Centre (MAC) was established in 1998 by a retired human rights activist in Taaibosch GaMamadi, a predominantly farming area about 160 km north of Polokwane. It was founded in direct response to the needs of local communities, most of whom are low-income or farmworkers. For over two decades, MAC has been a trusted source of support in this rural region. Its mission is to eradicate all forms of human rights violations, build capacity in previously disadvantaged communities, and make access to justice easy and affordable.

Through a full-time advice desk and regular outreach to surrounding towns (such as Molemole, Makhado and Musina) and farms, the Centre provides a range of free services aimed at protecting rights and empowering people. These include legal advice and casework, advocacy and lobbying on behalf of clients, skills training, and monitoring of social grant access points (such as SASSA pay points). MAC also conducts community dialogues, awareness campaigns and workshops to raise legal and human rights awareness so that people learn how to protect and exercise their rights.

MAC specifically focuses on serving farmworkers, LGBTQ+ individuals, survivors of gender-based violence, children, and other vulnerable youth. All services are offered free of charge by committed staff and volunteers, whether or not external funding is available.

Mamadi Advice Center Patnered with Department of Labour since 2012 on Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Deases Act and Occupational Health and Safety educating employees and Community Members.

We even partnered with Department of Justice and Constitutional Development on a Pilot Project to educate Vulnerable Communities and Farm Workers about thier Rights using Consitition of South Africa as a tool especially Bill of Rights on Chapter 2.
